GOVERNOR’S MANSION FOUNDATION EVENTS AT MANSION CANCELLED UNTIL 2021; VIRTUAL MUSICAL SOCIAL PLANNED

OLYMPIA, Wash. – It was announced last week that all Governor’s Mansion Foundation (GMF) events held at the Executive Mansion (tours, concerts, annual social events to name a few) are cancelled until at least January 2021. This is in response to the COVID 19 stay-at-home statewide order set in March 2020.

However, to continue to bring enjoyment to followers, the GMF has a virtual “Summer Social” planned to benefit the Washington State Governor’s Mansion Foundation (GMF), via ZOOM, on Sunday, August 16, 2020 beginning at 4:30 pm. (PDT). Steinway Artist Judith Cohen will present “Mighty Miniatures” – a presentation of short pieces by Beethoven, Scarlatti, Ravel, Debussy and Prokofiev.  According to Radu A. Lelutiu, Fanfare magazine, “(Judith) is without doubt a first-rate artist. If you have ever wondered how Wilhelm Kempff might have sounded playing Prokofiev, here is your chance to find out.”  Judith is also the Artistic Director of the ever-popular Governor’s Chamber Music Series, held quarterly at the Governor’s Mansion sponsored by the GMF.

For more information on the virtual Summer Social or to make a reservation go to https://mightyminiatures.bpt.me/ . Once registered and paid, attendees will receive a link to a “Zoom Event Invitation” within days of purchase to participate in this exciting concert. You can also enjoy a virtual receiving line with the artist after the concert.

The Governor’s Mansion Foundation, with more than 200 members, is an all-volunteer, non-profit, non-partisan organization, that honors the historical and cultural importance of the Washington State Governor’s Mansion by maintaining and enhancing furnishings and art for the nine  public rooms of the Mansion, educating the public about the Mansion and its history and advocating on its behalf.  For more GMF information go to  www.wagovmansion.org.
